Iran’s ‘Before Darkness’ to head to US

‘Before Darkness’ is to attend the 12th Annual Iranian Film Festival – San Francisco in the US.

‘Before Darkness’ (formerly known as The Baby) has been set to attend the 12th Annual Iranian Film Festival – San Francisco (IFF) in the US.

Written and directed by Mosayyeb Hanaee, the film is based on a true story.

It is about a woman who has crossed into Iran along with other Afghans as they want to go to Turkey illegally.

The woman, who is accompanied by her child, can’t take her child with her as she can’t afford the smuggling fees.

The film stars Shahbanou Mohammadi, Iraj Tadayyon, Javid Farahani, Reza Ahmadi, Narges Hezareh, Ahmad Ataee, and Gholam-Hossein Shabani.

‘Before Darkness’ was awarded at the 35th Tehran International Short Film Festival in Iran.

Launched in 2008, the IFF is the first independent Iranian film festival outside Iran, according to the website.

The IFF is “an annual event showcasing independent feature and short films made by or about Iranians from around the world.”

The 12th edition of the IFF – San Francisco will take place on September 28-29, 2019.
